It would be safe to say that Russell Martin's stint at Ibrox was an absolute nightmare for everybody involved. He lasted in the job for merely 123 days before being shown the exit door. To be fair, the Rangers did give him enough chances to turn things around. Now, in an interesting turn of events, it looks like he could be the one to replace Wilfried Nancy, who recently joined Celtic.

Now, do not get worried. It is not Celtic that have an eye on Martin. Instead, it is Nancy's former club in the MLS.

Since Nancy's departure to join Celtic, they are yet to find a replacement. As reported by talkSPORT, Martin is a candidate to become the new manager of Columbus Crew .

To be fair, this is the kind of move that could work. In the MLS, Martin simply is not going to have to deal with the kind of pressure that he did at Ibrox. And perhaps that is what a manager like him needs. Not everybody is capable of making the grade in Glasgow. We are not sure that Nancy is either.

Nancy started off his run at Celtic with four losses on the trot. That is something that not even Martin had done at Ibrox. Naturally, most supporters wanted to see him being shown the exit door after just two weeks in the job.

Since then, Nancy has been able to turn things around a bit. The glaring holes defensively still remain, and it remains to be seen whether the club back their new manager in the winter window or not.

As for Martin, he has spent his entire management career in the United Kingdom. So. it would be a new step for him if he did choose to go to the MLS.
