It is unsurprising that Jota has been linked with a return to Celtic once again this winter. It has only been a year-and-a-half since he left the club in order to join Al-Ittihad but it is safe to say that it must feel like a lifetime for the Portuguese winger. Things certainly did not work out for him there and in the summer, he ended up moving to Rennes.

Unfortunately for Jota, his spell with Rennes seems to be nearing its end as well. He does not seem to be in the manager's plans there and could be on the move once again.

Incidentally, Celtic are believed to be looking to sign a winger this month. So, on paper, trying to bring back Jota makes all the sense in the world. What kind of a transfer fee would it take though?

As reported by Fanatik (via Habererk), Jota was offered to Trabzonspor. Rennes seemingly expect a transfer fee of around €8 million for him.

Jota's time since leaving Celtic in the summer of 2023 has been a bit of a nightmare for sure. But one cannot forget that he was a superstar during his two-year spell at Parkhead.

So, it makes sense for the Hoops to at least consider a move for Jota. He knows Scottish football well already and is a proven big-game player for Celtic, having performed in finals, Glasgow derbies and even high-profile Champions League games.

Of course, they have been linked with quite a few other wingers as well. But do not completely rule out the idea of them trying to bring back Jota if the opportunity did present itself.

It would be a crowd-pleasing move, that is for sure. And it would also be an opportunity for Jota to bring his career back on track.
