The focus of Celtic right now has to be on strengthening their squad. But on the contrary, they were handed a worry as reports emerged in Italy that Udinese wanted to sign Adam Idah. They have seen Lorenzo Lucca leave for Napoli this summer and are believed to be eyeing the Irishman as a potential replacement for him.

Of course, Idah has not exactly met expectations since his £9 million-plus move from Norwich City last summer. He did score 20 goals but went missing in plenty of games as well, which you cannot do if you are leading the line for a club like Celtic.

That being said, that does not mean that Celtic are in a position to part ways with Idah. In fact, he is the only genuine option they have right now up front, with Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand yet to show what they are capable of.

So, Celtic fans won't want to see Idah leave this summer, unless a proper replacement or competition is brought in at some point. And there is a positive update regarding his future at Parkhead.

As reported by Mark Hendry, Idah is going nowhere amid Udinese links. Celtic as well as the striker, both see a big season ahead for the Irishman.

So, it looks like Idah won't be leaving this summer. That comes as a relief. But it does not mean that that is enough and Celtic can now rest on their laurels. Most definitely not.

The focus has to be on strengthening their ranks at striker instead. Just Idah won't be reliable enough, going into the new season. And with Jota out injured and Nicolas Kuhn no longer at the club, there are doubts how often Daizen Maeda will be deployed in a central role this time around.

Now, if Celtic sign another top-quality goalscorer this summer, that changes the entire picture. But so far, they have been reluctant to meet transfer valuations of players, with their fee paid being the £1.5 million they shelled out to sign Benjamin Nygren.
