Celtic need to get things going with the new season around the corner. There are still a lot of voids in their squad that need to be filled as soon as possible. And one of the areas that needs strengthening is up front. The Hoops never really replaced Kyogo Furuhashi after he left in January and Jota's injury means that Daizen Maeda will most probably play as a winger for the foreseeable future.

That means that Adam Idah is expected to be the starting centre-back for Celtic, at least at the start of the new season. In pre-season, he did not impress. Hopefully, it is just about finding his rhythm before he is back amongst the goals.

Most Celtic fans are hoping for another proper striker to be signed to compete with Idah. Instead, it looks like he himself is being linked with a move away instead.

As reported by Tutto Udinese, the Italian club are looking for a striker after Lorenzo Lucca's move to Napoli. One of the names being explored is that of Idah.

In the past, we had speculated how Lucca's move to Napoli could help Celtic sign Giuseppe Ambrosino. But instead, it looks like it could end up having the opposite effect.

To be very honest, under normal circumstances, if the right offer came in, parting ways with Idah would have been worth considering. He has not been particularly impressive since his big-money move from Norwich City last summer.

But this is not the right time to consider parting with Idah. Celtic do not have an option who can take his place in the team right now. They need him and his exit should be the last thing on anybody's mind. But then, you never know.
