As Adam Idah continues to struggle to establish himself as Celtic's first-choice number 9, Brendan Rodgers has openly hinted to the media that he would like to see another centre-forward brought in this summer. It remains to be seen whether the club will succeed in bringing one in before the transfer window closes. It has seen them being linked with David Strelec once again though.

Celtic were believed to be very keen on signing Strelec in January. In fact, there were rumours that a bid had been made and rejected by Slovan Bratislava.

Since then, those rumours had faded away over time and it had looked like Celtic had turned their attention towards other players. But lately, the speculation has cropped up once again.

A lot of that has to do with Strelec's father mentioning Celtic in the media recently. But are the Hoops really trying to bring the Slovakian striker to Parkhead right now? It seems we finally an answer to that question.

It appears that there is not much linking Celtic with a move for Strelec at this point in time. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Mark Hendry said on the situation:

"Sources confirmed to CeltsAreHere earlier this week—and again the week before—that Celtic had not initiated conversations over the Slovakian striker."

So, it looks like Celtic are not actively looking to sign Strelec at this point. It remains to be seen if they do end up making a push for any striker before this summer transfer window closes.

It is certainly an area where Celtic need to shake things up. Signing a couple of wingers and moving Daizen Maeda centrally could be a pretty good solution as well though. So, let's see how things play out in this regard over the next few weeks. There is one thing that is pretty clear though, the Hoops have left a lot of work to do late in the window.
