If there is one position where Celtic need to strengthen in this summer transfer window, it is on the flanks. The club have seen Nicolas Kuhn and Luis Palma depart, and the only reason Marco Tilio has not left yet is because of the lack of options in the position. On the other hand, it has been known for a while that Jota will not return to action this year.

So, that has left Brendan Rodgers scrambling for options in that area of the pitch. Daizen Maeda was brilliant when playing centrally last season. But now he is back on the wing, even though Adam Idah has been struggling to establish himself as the man leading the line for Celtic.

On the other hand, it is pretty clear that James Forrest should not be a starting player for Celtic at this point in his career, even he would not have expected that coming into the campaign. But here we are, going into an important European tie that will determine their place in the group phase of the Champions League.

Amid all this, it looks like the Hoops are eyeing other options as well. As reported by CeltsAreHere, Celtic have reached out to Calvin Stengs' representatives in the past week to sound out interest and explore the possibility of a move.

No direct contact is believed to have taken place between the two clubs so far though. So, let's see where this goes.

Stengs is an established name in Dutch football. He currently plays for Feyenoord and has represented the Netherlands national team on eight occasions as well, even scoring three times. He has the ability to play on the right flank or in the number 10 role.

Someone like him could be an excellent addition for Celtic. Let's hope they do make a push for him this summer.
