Celtic's pursuit of a striker this summer has been updated over the past few days. Mathias Kvistgaarden, linked with the Hoops for years, is on the verge of joining Norwich City. On the other hand, it looks like the Scottish champions have Napoli's Giuseppe Ambrosino on their radar, with the Italian youth international believed to be open to the Parkhead move.
Of course, there are more strikers Celtic have been linked with in recent months. One of them is Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
After spending many years playing for Everton and being linked with some top Premier League clubs along the way, Calvert-Lewin now finds himself available as a free agent this summer. Celtic have been suggested as a potential destination.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are ready to go all out for Calvert-Lewin and may step up their pursuit of the former Everton striker. Keith Wyness told the outlet that “it would be brilliant” to see the England international make the move to Scotland.
'Ready' - Major Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Celtic transfer claim
If the rumour is accurate and Celtic are indeed willing to make a move for Calvert-Lewin this summer, it would be a risky one for the club. On one hand, there is no question about his pedigree. At the top of his game, he is a Premier League-proven goalscorer and an England international.
That being said, one cannot overlook his injury problems and lack of form over the past few years. When was the last time we saw Calvert-Lewin at his best, or anywhere near that level?
It remains to be seen where Celtic's pursuit of the former Everton man goes. But if you ask us, it is uch more likely that they will end up bringing in Ambrosino from Napoli on loan with an option to buy.
