Back in January, Celtic were linked with a move for Tyrell Malacia but the Manchester United left-back ended up joining PSV Eindhoven on loan. He played a role for the Eredivisie champions but did not do enough to convince them that a permanent move was needed. As a result, the Dutchman finds himself in need of a club once again this summer.

Once again, Malacia's name is being linked with a move to Celtic. It might not have materialised last winter but could it happen this time around?

Of course, one of the first things that Celtic will need to discuss regarding any move for Malacia is the transfer fee they will need to shell out. And this time around, it looks like it might not take much for the Hoops to secure the signing of the Dutch international,.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Man Utd are unlikely to be inundated with offers for Malacia. The club will need to transfer him for £3.22 million to avoid a loss under the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Of course, that information does not mean that that is the figure that Manchester United would be willing to part ways with Malacia. That is not clear at the moment. But it does set a bit of a benchmark when it comes to any deal.

Not too many clubs are expected to be interested in signing Malacia this summer. That does open up a window of opportunity for Celtic to make their move for the Dutch international.

The question is, do Celtic need Malacia? They have Kieran Tierney, who will be the starter at left-back without a doubt. So, do the Hoops need to bring in a high-profile name from Manchester United as cover?
