Well, the Rangers managerial situation is one that Celtic fans have been keeping an eye out on as well. It is safe to say that there have been several twists and turns already. Russell Martin's time at the club was a nightmare and he was shown the exit door after just 123 days in charge. And it had looked like Steven Gerrard was almost certain to be brought back.

Very unexpectedly, though, Gerrard decided that the time was not right and turned down the chance to become the Rangers manager for a second time. And it is pretty clear that the Ibrox club have been left scrambling for a solution.

Danny Rohl's name has been doing the rounds for a few days now. He was named as the clear frontrunner for the job after Gerrard's rejection. But now, it looks like there is another U-turn at Ibrox.

Kevin Muscat has suddenly emerged as the new favourite for the Rangers job. He is at Shanghai Port right now and but the Chinese League season is going to end pretty soon.

While the Ibrox fans were not happy with the Rohl rumours, they seem to be absolutely delighted with the speculation linking them with Muscat. As one Celtic fan pointed out: "I bet you none of them have even watched a Kevin Muscat team in a game for 90 mins. The clamour for his services comes from being convinced he’s gonna mirror the success of Ange cause he’s won leagues in the far east."

Of course, it is pretty easy, almost lazy, to draw those comparisons. After all, Muscat was an assistant coach to Postecoglou at one point.

Just like Postecoglou, Muscat has enjoyed tremendous success in Australia and Japan. On top of that, he has won silverware in China as well. Let's be honest, his record is quite impressive. That being said, that does not mean that it will simply translate to Scottish football, just because it did for his former boss.

Also, Postecoglou had arrived at Celtic after Eddie Howe turned the job down. Could the same happen with Muscat after Gerrard's rejection? Well, we will find out soon.

If there is one thing that Celtic fans learned from the Postecoglou appointment, it is that managers should not be ruled out before they have gotten a chance to show what they are capable of. So, if Muscat is appointed by the Rangers, it might turn out to be a challenge worth taking seriously. It also might not, but it is always best to be prepared for the worst.
