Celtic will be eager to win the next Glasgow Derby, having lost twice on the trot against the Rangers. The first of those defeats came early in the year, as they lost 3-0 at Ibrox. Many were happy to write that off as a bad day at the office, but it looks like that ended up setting the wrong tone for 2025. The Hoops would go on to lost the following matchup against their Glasgow rivals as well, this time at Parkhead.
One Rangers player who ended up making a questionable comment about Celtic Park after that win was Dujon Sterling. It looks like he won't be involved in the next Glasgow Derby, though.
The Rangers player has picked up an injury. And it is expected to keep him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future.
As reported by Sky Sports, Sterling will undergo surgery on an Achilles injury that will rule him out "long term". Barry Ferguson said:
"I just got a bit of bad news about Dujon - he's going to be out long term. He's had a serious one."
Rangers player looks set to be ruled out against Celtic due to long-term injury
Of course, Celtic have been dealing with fitness issues themselves in recent weeks. The latest to pick up one was Yang Hyun-jun. The South Korean winger, who has been one of the club's better performers this year, has suffered an elbow issue and looks set to be out for the next few weeks in the very least.
For now, the focus will be on the games that are coming up, rather than the last derby of the season, which is set to be played at Ibrox. But it is safe to say that the Hoops would not want to lose thrice on the trot against the Rangers.
As for Vaclav Cerny of the Rangers, he is free to feature in the next Glasgow Derby. There had been speculation that he could be handed a ban but the SFA ended up deciding against it. That will be an interesting matchup for sure.
