It looks like the Rangers have their eyes on a number of managers as they look to fill the vacant Ibrox role. Barry Ferguson's departure was confirmed pretty soon after the end of the Premiership campaign. Now, the club seem to be aiming to bring in someone with the ability to keep up with Celtic, something they have struggled to do for years.
Celtic were nowhere near their best in the second half of this season, as we saw in the final of the Scottish Cup. But even then, they won the league by a margin of 17 points.
So, the Rangers have quite the gap to bridge. And it looks like they have set their eyes on a Danish manager, despite the links with Steven Gerrard and Davide Ancelotti.
As reported by BBC, former Feyenoord manager Brian Priske is a contender to be the next Rangers manager. He has held talks with the Ibrox club.
Rangers hold talks with Danish manager as they eye Celtic
Priske has enjoyed a decent bit of success in management so far. He won the Danish Superliga with FC Midtjylland. He then won three trophies with Sparta Prague and one with Feyenoord.
His run at Feyenoord proved to be a flop though. Priske was only in the job for 33 games before being sacked by the Dutch club. So, if the Rangers do end up appointing him as their next manager, the Dane will come in with some question marks around his ability to deliver at a big club.
Of course, the Rangers cannot afford to get it wrong once again. They have had five different managers over the past four years, with three of them being sacked in the middle of the season while Gerrard decided to leave to join Aston Villa. Ferguson was only the interim head coach but spent a decent bit of time in the job and managed in some high-profile games.
