It would be safe to say that Celtic are enjoying another successful season. With their win over Dundee United this weekend, they secured their fourth consecutive league title. Over the past 14 seasons, they have failed to win the Premiership on just one occasion. And later this season, they will get the chance to win their sixth treble in nine years.

On the other hand, trophies have been a rarity for Rangers fans in recent times. Forget a treble, they struggle to win even a single trophy these days. This season, they are going to finish without one.

Of course, a lot of their fans are hoping that change is on the horizon. In the near future, the Rangers are set to undergo a takeover by an American consortium that involves the San Francisco 49ers.

For now, it is Celtic's turn to celebrate. And true to form, Chris Sutton put out a cheeky post following the Hoops' Premiership triumph.

Unsurprisingly, it did not go down too well with Rangers supporters. One of them wrote: "Enjoy this because Celtic are about to fall off their cycle and Rangers are just about to hit 3rd of 5th gear."

Another seemed to be delighted with the fact that the Rangers were able to make it to the last 8 of the Europa League this season, as they wrote: "Still not good enough to compete in Europe."

The fact of the matter is that Celtic are winning right now and on a consistent basis. It remains to be seen what will happen once the Rangers' takeover goes through.

It is very possible that they could be more competitive with added investment. But that does not always turn out to be the case.

It is not like there has been a huge gulf in the investment made by both clubs in recent times. The difference has just been that Celtic have been posting record profits pretty much every season while the Rangers have run on losses consistently.
