Nicolas Kuhn is someone who has received a lot of criticism in recent weeks. He was Celtic's best player in the first half of the season, scoring big goals against Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and the Rangers in the League Cup final. But over the last few months, especially after the end of the Champions League campaign, his form had dipped significantly.

From being one of Celtic's best player, he saw himself being left out of the starting XI on a few occasions. Thankfully, Kuhn found himself back amongst the goals on the day that Celtic won the league title.

Kuhn scored a brace, Celtic's second and third, against Dundee United at Tannadice Park. It was fitting as well, considering the role that he has played in this Premiership triumph.

His celebrations after scoring Celtic's second goal on the day raised a few eyebrows though. He seemed to make a talking gesture with both his hands. Who was that aimed at?

Nicolas Kuhn shares who controversial Celtic goal celebration was aimed at

Kuhn has opened up on his celebration against Dundee United. As reported by The Celtic Way, when asked if it was aimed at anybody in particular, he said:

"Not particularly, but to a lot of people. I think it was a great season already. A lot of players did a good job this season already. I think I wasn't too bad either.

"I don't really read what people are saying, but I get it from some of the teammates. I'm just happy that we won the title, and we keep going."

So, it looks like Kuhn's celebration was not aimed at anybody in particular but to his critics as a whole. And truth be told, a lot has been said and written about his form in recent months. Perhaps it has been a bit over the top.

That is the reality of life as a Celtic player though. When the aim is to win every game that you take part in, there is little scope for an extended dip in form.

Brendan Rodgers deserves a ton of credit for sticking with Kuhn. One can only hope that the brace against Dundee United marked his return to form and we will see him at his best against the Rangers next weekend and against Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final.

Celtic certainly need it even more after Jota picked up a knee injury in the game against Dundee United. He was on crutches and with a knee brace on during the post-match celebrations, raising fears that he could be out for the next few weeks, potentially even the remainder of the season.
