The mood around Celtic has changed since the defeat at the hands of Dundee FC at the weekend. Of course, the fans still want changes in how the club is being run. That being said, it looks like a large section of the support no longer sees Brendan Rodgers as the man to lead the Hoops into the future either.
The football that Celtic play under Rodgers has not been entertaining. But at least, the results were coming. Now, those are not either with the club managing just one win in their last five games across all competitions.
Rodgers' contract runs at the end of the campaign and parting ways might be the best step after that. For both parties. But who will replace him?
A lot of people would like to see Ange Postecoglou back in the Parkhead hot seat. But another manager has now been suggested as a potential solution as well. One who is still in the Premier League and has his own ties with Celtic, having played for the club.
Premier League manager backed to make blockbuster Celtic move
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, while talking on Open Goal, Si Ferry was asked whether he would take Moyes at Celtic and he replied:
"Uh huh, 100 percent. We were arguing about it the other day and he (Paul Slane) said he wouldn’t."
Expanding on the potential Moyes to Celtic move further, Ferry said:
"I think he plays alright football. He doesn’t play out but I think once the ball lands they play, don’t they? I don’t think (Jack) Grealish and all that wouldn’t play for a manager who doesn’t play.
“He’s got the third-best win record in Premier League history, or something like that."
Well, one cannot argue with Moyes' record, that is for sure. Just look at how things have turned out for West Ham United since they allowed him to leave. Relegation seems to be a real possibility for them right now.
On the other hand, Moyes has done very well at Everton. Of course, the Merseyside club have struggled for a long time now and sitting in 12th in the Premier League is a step in the right direction for them. He was exceptional during his first stint with the club as well.
Then again, would appointing Moyes just be the same thing as having Rodgers? He is someone who will probably produce the results. That being if things go south, there is nothing to hang your hat on when it comes to the style of football.
If you ask us, Postecoglou is perfect for Celtic. He is capable of finding top talents within the budget that the club like to work within. Jota, Kyogo, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Matt O'Riley, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Josip Juranovic, we can go on with the examples.
Even signings made during that Postecoglou era that did not work out at Parkhead have gone on to achieve success elsewhere. Oh Hyeon-gyu is a £20-plus million striker now. Tomoki Iwata has been one of Birmingham City's best players. Moritz Jenz is a starter in the Bundesliga.
