The summer transfer window is just around the corner and for Celtic, this is an important one, as they look to strengthen. Brendan Rodgers has only a year left on his contract with the club and it is a good opportunity for the Hoops to strengthen the squad and show the manager that Parkhead is the place to be for him.

Left-back is one area where Celtic might need to strengthen this summer. An extension has not been reached with Greg Taylor yet, as the Scottish international looks reluctant to stay with Kieran Tierney set to come in as a free agent.

Celtic are believed to be keen on agreeing a deal with Jeffrey Schlupp as well. Those chances have been helped following Crystal Palace's most recent announcement.

The club announced on their official website that Schlupp will leave Crystal Palace this summer. He spent eight-and-a-half years with the Eagles.

Schlupp's contract with Crystal Palace is set to expire. The expectation has always been that he will leave this summer. Now, that has been made official by the Eagles. It remains to be seen what the next step is for the versatile veteran.

At 32 years of age, a starting spot might not be available at many places for Schlupp. So, a return to Celtic on a permanent basis could be worth considering, even if it is to play the role of Tierney's backup.

Tierney has a long injury history. So, one would imagine that the club will manage his load and give him consistent rest throughout the campaign. That would open up an opportunity for someone like Schlupp to get his minutes on the pitch. And thanks to his versatility, Rodgers can play him in other positions as well, depending on the situation.
