Celtic return home after a difficult run of away games as they host Motherwell on Saturday.
The Hoops most recently beat Rangers 4-2 on penalties in the quarter-final of the Scottish Cup after a 0-0 result in 120 minutes. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Auston Trusty, Reo Hatate and Tomas Cvancara all converted from the spot, and the victory over their rivals will have instilled a lot of confidence into the squad.
Last time out for the visitors, Motherwell suffered a 2-1 loss to Dundee on the road. Callum Slattery scored the Well's only goal, with Tony Yogane and Finlay Robertson ensuring victory for their opponents.
Despite the result, Motherwell have done well this season under Jens Berthel Askou, currently sitting fourth in the Scottish Premiership on 53 points. Celtic sit second going into this one, and three points are needed to ensure they stay in the title race.
Predicted Celtic XI for Motherwell at home
Viljami Sinisalo will retain his spot as goalkeeper for this one. Since coming into the squad, he has been amazing for Celtic, and it would make sense for him to stay as the starting goalkeeper from this point forward. Kasper Schmeichel is unlikely to win his place back.
At the back, Liam Scales and Benjamin Arthur will start. Arthur was fantastic against Rangers in the cup, with Scales being pushed to left back for that one. Scales will return to his centre-back position, and Arthur will retain his spot with Trusty still serving his three-match ban. This is the last game for that, and he will be able to play in the next league match.
Julian Araujo and Marcelo Saracchi will likely start this one. Kieran Tierney recently returned from injury and has been spotted in training, but it may be too soon for him to make the starting lineup. He could be named on the bench though.
In the midfield, Benjamin Nygren, Hatate and Oxlade-Chamberlain could play for this. The Ox was dropped after a bad first-half performance in the league match against the Gers, but it could be time for him to come back. With Callum McGregor injured, it's either him, Luke McCowan or Paulo Bernardo, and Martin O'Neill may look to footballing experience.
Up front, Tomas Cvancara could start. After converting his penalty and with Daizen Maeda failing to score, the Czech may get the nod at striker. Hopefully, he can bag a goal this time out.
Daizen Maeda could be pushed back to the wing and could start. On the other side, Yang is a good option, but James Forrest performed quite well coming off the bench last time, but he'll likely remain a substitute if he does show up.
Sinisalo (GK)
Araujo (RB), Arthur (CB), Scales (CB), Tierney (LB)
Nygren (CM), Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM), Hatate (CM)
Yang (RW), Cvancara (ST), Maeda (LW)
How could the match go?
It's going to be a cracking game at Celtic Park, there's no doubt about that, and Celtic have a good chance of getting a victory. Motherwell will be eager to bounce back after their recent loss, but if the Hoops players perform to the best of their abilities, it could be a victory for the Celts.
Our prediction is Celtic 3 - 2 Motherwell.
