John Cena is one of the most recognisable names in the world. Whether it be his legendary career in the WWE, his rising star in Hollywood or his inspirational work with Make-A-Wish, the American has won the hearts of many around the globe over the past two decades or so. Could he endear himself to Celtic fans further by supporting the Hoops in the near future?
Of course, Celtic are no strangers to having famous supporters. Names like Rod Stewart, James McAvoy, Gerard Butler, Lewis Capaldi and Kevin Bridges are considered fans. On the other hand, the likes of Snoop Dogg and Conor McGregor have been seen sporting the green-and-white jersey in the past.
Earlier this year, CM Punk made a lot of headlines by showing up in Celtic gear. Could his long-time in-ring rival, Cena, be next to do the same?
Cena is known to wear bright outfits to the ring. We are sure that the leader of Cenation would suit the green-and-white as well.
WWE and Hollywood superstar John Cena makes superb Celtic claim
As reported by GOAL, Cena said while speaking to talkSPORT:
"I always say I am looking for a team. Everybody says I'm a Tottenham fan, there has been talks of me being a Chelsea fan. I say I'm looking for a team. I am still trying to figure out the game, the rivalries, so if you have a good pitch I am willing to listen."
Presenter Shebahn Aherne made the pitch for that club to be Celtic, to which Cena replied:
"That's a decent pitch. I'm from Boston and our basketball team is called the Celtics. So, I'll put that at the front of the list."
We shall see if the pitch has worked or not. It won't be difficult to keep an eye on Cena, as he pretty much spends his life in the spotlight.
He has found a lot more success in Hollywood than most had expected. The American has shown a great range already and is on an upward trajectory. With his former in-ring rival, The Rock, struggling to deliver over the past few years, do not be surprised if Cena ends up being the new Box Office king in the not-too-distant future.
In terms of wrestling, Cena's career in the ring is coming to an end soon. He has already announced his retirement tour for 2025, with the next WrestleMania being his last.
