Celtic fans have been calling for a left-back signing over the past several transfer windows. They want to see more competition for the starting spot and extra cover for Greg Taylor. Any news of a possible signing in the position will be welcomed by the supporters. And it looks like a Premier League player is on their radar.

Hugo Bueno of Wolves is the latest name to be linked with a possible Celtic move. He is believed to have been on the Hoops' radar for some time now. Hopes were dashed recently though as the Premier League club were said to have no interest in arranging a loan deal for the left-back

Just a day later there are reports that point in a different direction. As reported by Football Insider, Wolves have told Celtic they are open to loaning out Bueno but want him to be playing regularly.

So, it looks like Wolves want reassurances that there will be a good development plan and regular football for Bueno if he goes out on loan this summer. He is not currently getting that where he is, so a temporary move away does make sense all round.

With Alexandro Bernabei out on loan and unlikely to have a future at Celtic, cover for Taylor is very thin at the moment. Development team players or Anthony Ralston playing at left-back are the main options. You’d expect that this offers someone like Bueno a good chance to interchange with the Scottish international during the season.

Having Bueno or Taylor on the bench can provide more opportunities to make changes during a match that can have a positive impact. The chance to play Champions League football can also be added to make a move an attractive proposition for the Spanish youngster.

As for the future, well if a buyout option can be included, then the likes of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and hopefully now Paulo Bernardo, have shown how well that can work over recent times. Loan deals have been a significant part of Celtic's transfer strategy. Let's see if Bueno is the next one to arrive at Parkhead on a temporary basis.
