Wilfred Ndidi to Celtic news as Leicester City future cleared
Celtic have been linked with a few players Brendan Rodgers managed at Leicester City since the Northern Irishman's return last summer. None of those reunions have taken place yet despite all the speculation. Once again, the Hoops are being linked with the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Daniel Amartey.
Amartey joined Besiktas just last summer. So, signing him would be tough. There seems to be a simpler route to Ndidi's signature though.
Ndidi's contract with Leicester City is believed to have run out. It is still unclear whether he will continue with the Foxes, especially now that they are back in the Premier League, or try his luck elsewhere.
As reported by Allnigeriasoccer.com, the speculation linking Ndidi to Celtic in the summer transfer window is incorrect. He will definitely extend his contract with Leicester City.
Wilfred Ndidi to Celtic news as Leicester City future cleared
Ndidi bounced back in the 23/24 season after what had been a forgettable 22/23 campaign for the Nigerian international. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 36 appearances and registered 6 goals and 6 assists.
Yes, Ndidi still had his fitness issues last season as well. But overall, he looked better than he has in recent years.
On top of his game, Ndidi was one of the most highly-rated midfielders in the world. He was even linked with clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and others at one point in time.
It is safe to say that those days are gone but he could still do a decent job for plenty of clubs around the world if he can remain fit. And with Celtic looking to progress at the Champions League level, someone like Ndidi could have been a solid signing for the Hoops this summer. Unfortunately, it looks like a reunion with Rodgers is not on the cards.
