Sky Sports man drops outstanding news on Matt O'Riley's Celtic future
Matt O'Riley's future has been a topic of heavy discussion in recent times. Celtic are already believed to have turned down multiple offers from Atalanta to sign the Denmark international. On the other hand, clubs like Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Manchester United and several others have been linked with him.
Atletico Madrid had even tried to sign him in the winter. But Celtic were not willing to part ways with O'Riley in the middle of the season. That proved to be the right decision as they went on to win a Premiership and Scottish Cup double.
Most people that O'Riley will leave the club this summer. It is not hard to understand why, considering the level of interest in his signature and Celtic's historical willingness to part ways with even their best players if the right offer comes in.
But it looks like O'Riley's future at Parkhead is not the foregone conclusion that some believe it to be. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Anthony Joseph said on the Celtic Unrestricted View podcast:
"Matt O’Reilly is not pushing to move. Matt O’Riley is very happy at Celtic. He loves it there, he loves working under Rodgers, he loves the feel of the club.
“He comes across as a guy who’s very humble. I mean he wasn’t out in flashy places on his holidays. He went to a yoga retreat in India for his holidays this summer instead of being at the Euros.
“He’s a very different type of character to what I think you see as the traditional stereotype of footballers.
“He is not someone who is agitating to leave but there is a sort of a mutual understanding there that if a club like Atletico Madrid did in January come in with a bid of that size in the summer they would look at it.
“No one has come in with a bid of that size yet and Celtic have been rejecting the bids so I think that tells you Celtic are not desperate and they’re not going to be a walkover."

It would be safe to say that O'Riley has a different mindset compared to the majority of footballers. Not many would have passed on the chance to remain in the Premier League to go and play League One football at MK Dons.
The decision paid off in the long run for O'Riley though. His performances at MK Dons convinced Celtic to sign him and the rest is history.
O'Riley has shown tremendous growth under the management of O'Riley and if his pre-season displays are anything to go by then he is only getting better. So, remaining at Celtic Park for another season would not be the worst idea for his development as a player.
