If anybody had written off Celtic's win over Manchester City as a fluke, they were handed a wake-up call by Brendan Rodgers' side. They completely outplayed Enzo Maresca's Chelsea in a 4-1 win. Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O'Riley, Luis Palma and Mikey Johnston were the four goalscorers for the Hoops on the day. The Blues got a late consolation goal from Christopher Nkunku, who made no mistake from the penalty spot.

Celtic have looked absolutely brilliant this season. They are doing what many would term 'cooking' these days.

But the game against Chelsea was not all good news for Celtic. They were handed an injury problem on the day as well.

Daizen Maeda had to be substituted off in the 35th minute of the game, with Palma replacing him. As reported by The Scottish Sun, initial hopes are it was merely a precaution but the Japanese forward's knock will require more analysis after the match.

The silver lining of the entire situation is that Palma looked fantastic once again. He scored a goal and then assisted another. The Honduran international will be expected to step up this season after what was an inconsistent debut campaign for the Hoops. There is a lot to be encouraged by about his pre-season displays so far.

On the other hand, it has been a nightmare start for Maresca as Chelsea manager. They could only manage a 2-2 draw against Wrexham and were left chasing shadows by Celtic.

Chelsea have made one mistake after another since their change in ownership and one has to wonder whether appointing Maresca in place of Mauricio Pochettino will prove to be another one. The club's new strategy is clearly not working at the moment and yet, they continue to show no signs of adjusting, stubbornly sticking to their ideas.
