Celtic are believed to be looking to sign a left-back this summer in order to compete with Greg Taylor for the first-team spot. They were linked with a move for Hugo Bueno and while the Spaniard has left the Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan, he has joined Feyenoord for the season. So, that is no longer a possibility.

Celtic have been linked with other left-backs as well. Owen Beck of Liverpool is believed to be someone they still have their eyes on although a move did not materialise in the winter.

Owen Wijndal is someone Celtic are believed to be interested in as well. Rumours had been doing rounds for a while and we reported about them earlier this month. It looks like the situation has developed further since then.

As tweeted by Anthony Joseph, Celtic and Werder Bremen hold an interest in Wijndal. Ajax are open to offers. Initial enquiries have been made by both clubs.

Wijndal spent last season on loan at Royal Antwerp. Celtic have already been linked to a few of the Belgian club's players this summer.

Wijndal is in need of a change of scenery to bring his career back on track. Not too long ago, he was considered the number one left-back of the Netherlands national team for the foreseeable future and even has almost a dozen international caps to his name.

Unfortunately for Wijndal, it has not been smooth sailing since his move to Ajax. And it is easy to see why both parties might be interested in parting ways.

Celtic have a decent recent record when it comes to bringing the best out of players who had been struggling elsewhere despite their unquestionable talents. Just look at examples like Jota, Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo. Will Wijndal be next on that list?
