Rangers face Philippe Clement issue already as Celtic race ahead
When the Rangers won the league title in the 2020/21 season, there were many believed that they were set to make a run at the top of Scottish football. It is safe to say that those predictions were off the mark. Celtic have gone on to win the next three Premiership titles while it is hard to see how things improve for the Ibrox club from here.
The managerial revolving door at Ibrox has not stopped since then. Steven Gerrard, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale have departed the club over the past three seasons. Philippe Clement is the boss now but there are question marks over his long-term future as well.
Clement made a bright start to life as Rangers manager last season. But it would be safe to say that his team's form faded away over the course of the campaign, as Celtic ended up winning a Premiership and Scottish Cup double.
This summer, the Ibrox club have faced issues getting transfers over the line. And as reported by Football Insider, Rangers are experiencing rising tensions between Clement and the board. The manager could hand them an ultimatum of “back me or sack me” given the difficulties they have faced in the transfer market.

Of course, all of this is good news for Celtic. Even though their own transfer window has been nothing special so far, things seem a lot calmer at Parkhead.
Celtic have replaced Joe Hart with Kasper Schmeichel. On the other hand, Viljami Sinisalo has been brought in from Aston Villa as his cover option. The 22-year-old seems like a good prospect.
Celtic are believed to be close to signing Paulo Bernardo on a permanent basis from Benfica as well. And hopefully, there will be a few more signings to come.
