When Raheem Sterling was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2022, it was viewed as a great signing for the Blues. Things have changed over the next two seasons. The club have gone from one of the best in Europe to struggling to not even making it into the Europa League. And the Englishman was recently dropped from their matchday 1 squad, against former side Manchester City. A Stamford Bridge feels inevitable and could Celtic be a potential option?

Of course, Celtic would not be able to sign Sterling on a permanent basis or even come close to matching his wages. But if Chelsea were open to paying the majority of his salary, perhaps something could be worked out.

Would Sterling be open to the idea of joining Celtic if he were to leave Chelsea? There has to be a major doubt surrounding that as well, even though he already knows Brendan Rodgers from their time together at Liverpool.

Ally McCoist does not seem to believe that Sterling would be open to the idea of a move to Celtic Park. As reported by Glasgow World, the Rangers hero said on the talkSPORT Breakfast show:

"Brendan knows him, but I think he'd see it as a step down. I don't think so - I think if he's leaving the country, he's going to Saudi Arabia."

To be honest, that seems like the most likely route for Sterling. Things are clearly not working for him at Chelsea. He has not been their worst performer by any stretch of the imagination. But he has not been a game-changer either.

With options like Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto and Mykhailo Mudryk on the left flank, Chelsea can definitely say goodbye to Sterling and not be majorly impacted. But a move to Celtic seems way too improbable from the outside looking in.

Celtic might not even need to sign another winger this summer. Nicolas Kuhn seems to be in the form of his life at the moment. Daizen Maeda is back in the mix as well. James Forrest's role has grown under the management of Rodgers. Luis Palma, Yang Hyun-jun and Mikey Johnston are options too.
