Celtic fans wanted the club to bring back Adam Idah this summer and the Irishman showed why this weekend. With the club down 2-1 against Falkirk, the striker scored two quick goals to put the Hoops in the lead. The first of those came as a result of him being a 'fox in the box' while Nicolas Kuhn did the hard part. The second was a fantastic strike, that saw him go past two defenders before calmly slotting it past the goalkeeper.
Of course, it was not the perfect display from Idah by any stretch of the imagination. He could, and perhaps should, have scored more on the day.
It is also important to remember that the opposition was a Scottish Championship team. But that being said, Idah also scored in the Champions League in midweek and now has three goals in the previous two games.
Yet, Idah seems to recognise the room for improvement. And some of his recent comments won't go down too well with Norwich City fans. As reported by Irish Independent, he said:
"Look, I didn’t do much in pre-season. Before anyone jumps on that, that wasn’t me chucking it or anything, it was just how we trained down at Norwich.
“Obviously, it’s not as intense down there as it is here, we’re at a big club and we want to be on it."
Norwich City fans won't be happy with Adam Idah's Celtic claim
Norwich City fans might not agree but the pressure to win at Celtic is certainly a lot greater. Anything other than a domestic treble these days feels like an opportunity missed.
Yes, Norwich City have won promotion to the Premier League a fair few times but they have never been able to establish themselves at that level like teams like Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion and a few others have. Instead, the Canaries have always been quickly relegated back to the Championship, which is where they currently find themselves.
As for the Champions League, that is a whole different ball game. And do not get us wrong, Norwich City are a pretty good team all things considered. Even many big teams get stuck in the Championship for years. They have not. But when it comes to the size of the club, there is no comparison with Celtic.
