It is no secret that Celtic would love to sign Adam Idah on a permanent basis this summer. The Irish striker had a wonderful loan spell at Parkhead, which included a Scottish Cup winner against the Rangers. Fans are hoping that that does not prove to be his final appearance for the Hoops. The problem is that the Scottish champions did not have a buyout clause included in the deal. So, it is Norwich City who hold all the cards right now.

Norwich City have a new manager in place, Johannes Hoff Thorup. It is understandable that he wants to have a look at Idah himself before making any decision about his future.

Idah featured in Norwich City's preseason game against Club Brugge. It ended in a 3-0 defeat for the Canaries though.

Worryingly for Celtic, Thorup seems to be viewing Idah as someone who will be a valuable player for the Championship club. While speaking after the game against Club Brugge, the manager said when asked about the striker on Norwich City's YouTube channel:

"Good to see him back. He's been a part of the group now for a little bit more than a week, had a couple of sessions with the boys. Important for us to get him started, important for him to get in and have some minutes again. I think we could see what he can support this team with. So nice to have him back on the pitch and I think he will be a valuable player for us."

Thus, it looks like Celtic might end up having a tough time getting a deal done for Idah this summer. The new Norwich City manager certainly appears to rate him pretty highly.

A lot will depend on how things go for him in preseason. If he impresses, then it is likely that he will remain at Norwich City. But if things do not go smoothly for him, it is very possible that the Canaries might be open to parting ways with him now, with his transfer value high after a good stint at Celtic.

It will be interesting to see how long Celtic are willing to wait for the Idah situation to become clear as well. It is worth pointing out that they have only one recognised striker in the squad right now in Kyogo following the departure of Oh Hyeon-gyu.
