Celtic set to hand €4 million deal to 22-year-old player
Celtic are starting to pick up pace in the transfer market. They have already confirmed their first signing of the summer, bringing in Viljami Sinisalo from Aston Villa. The goalkeeper is expected to be a backup option in Brendan Rodgers' side though, as Kasper Schmeichel is also believed to be on the verge of arriving and he is set to be the one to replace Joe Hart between the posts.
On the other hand, Celtic are close to making an outfield signing as well. It will be a familiar face though.
Reports across the media suggest that Celtic have already agreed a transfer fee with Benfica to sign Paulo Bernardo. And now, some fresh details have emerged regarding his contract as well.
As reported by A Bola, Bernardo is expected to earn around €4 million and is set to sign a contract with Celtic until June 2028. There are still some variants of the contract that are yet to be identified, related to Benfica's demands, as they want to protect themselves in relation to a future transfer.

Thus, while a deal is not completely over the line yet, one would expect things to be ironed out soon. Expect to see Bernardo back at Celtic, this time on a permanent basis, in the near future.
Of course, he spent last season on loan at Parkhead and it was a solid spell for the Portuguese midfielder. He was not a regular starter for the Hoops when everybody was fit and available, but did end up playing a decent bit of football.
Bernardo showed a ton of promise. If he can add more adds and assists to his game, he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders in Scottish football.
