Matt O'Riley has been a model professional at the start of this season. Despite the constant speculation future around his Celtic future, the midfielder has continued to start and play full games. That must be commended in an era when we see so many players going to extra lengths to complete exits despite having years left on their contracts.
That being said, it does not mean that O'Riley would not be interested in a Celtic exit. On the contrary, considering the type of clubs he has been linked with, it would be a surprise if he is not giving it a serious thought.
O'Riley has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, Inter Milan and many others. Atalanta were believed to have made multiple offers to sign him but could not agree a deal with Celtic. And now, it looks like Brighton & Hove Albion are the favourites to land his signature.
As reported by Football Insider, O’Riley has informed Celtic that he wants to join Brighton & Hove Albion if a deal can be agreed with them. The Seagulls have submitted a transfer bid of £25 million including significant add-ons. Sources believe that a deal could be agreed in the next 24 hours.

Of course, O'Riley leaving Celtic would not be good news for the club. But at this point, it is starting to feel inevitable.
O'Riley is a key part of Brendan Rodgers' team and arguably Celtic's most important player. So, if he were to leave, the Hoops would need to bring in a replacement capable of taking his place in the team immediately.
That will not be an easy task at all. Celtic have been linked with some midfielders in recent weeks, including Arne Engels of FC Augsburg, who is rumoured to be their top transfer target to replace O'Riley.
