Kyogo Furuhashi is arguably Celtic's most popular player. The fans love him, not for his abilities on the pitch but as a human being as well. He has been one of the faces of the club since his arrival in the summer of 2021. Of course, many had doubted whether he would succeed in Scottish football. Seven trophies and 73 goals later, it is safe to say that there are no more doubts.

Kyogo did not look at his best last season, with Brendan Rodgers replacing Ange Postecoglou as Celtic manager. He scored 19 goals, a solid return but way down from the 34 he had managed in the previous campaign.

This pre-season, Kyogo looked back to his very best though. It felt like Rodgers had finally figured out how to fit him into his system. But now, there are doubts about the Japanese forward's future at Parkhead.

One of the clubs Kyogo scored against in pre-season were Manchester City. And it looks like Pep Guardiola's side are now looking to sign him, having seen Julian Alvarez leave for Atletico Madrid this summer while Oscar Bobb and Savinho have picked up injuries.

A late night rumour had started to do the rounds of social media on Tuesday about Manchester City being interested in Kyogo. Unfortunately, they appear to be on the mark.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are considering a move for Kyogo. Initial talks took place this week.

Most Celtic fans would have been hoping for the Kyogo to Manchester City links to be a mere creation of the rumour mill. Unfortunately, they are not. Now, it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

It is not hard to see why a move to Manchester City might interest Kyogo, especially at 29. They are arguably the best team in the world.
