The history involving Celtic, Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers is not unknown. The manager would leave the Hoops in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign to join the Foxes. The Northern Irishman had a great run at the King Power Stadium as well, one that often gets underrated because of the manner in which it ended. But nobody can question the FA Cup and Community Shield wins, or qualifying for Europe on multiple occasions.

Now, Rodgers finds himself back at Celtic and he seems to be targeting a long run this time around. Unfortunately, it looks like Leicester City have their eyes on one of the Hoops' best players.

It is a player who has not been in the headlines lately. As reported by the Daily Mail (via BBC), Leicester City are weighing up a big-money offer for Celtic’s Reo Hatate.

Hatate was heavily linked with a move away last summer but not this time around. Most probably that is because of his disappointing 23/24 campaign. He struggled with multiple injury problems over the course of the season and was not able to feature much. That does not seem to have discouraged Leicester City though.

Hatate's 23/24 season was not his best, even though Celtic did end up winning a double. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 21 appearances and played 1288 minutes of football, registering 3 goals and 5 assists in the process.

Hatate proved to be vital in the business end of the season though. Thankfully, he managed to stay fit in the final months of the campaign and was a regular starter as Celtic went on a good run of form.

One could also argue that he was more efficient last season and if not for injuries, he could have had quite the campaign. And with there being question marks over Matt O'Riley's future as well, one can only hope that Celtic are not considering parting ways with Hatate this summer.
