Kris Boyd slams Rangers again and makes blunt Celtic admission
Celtic got themselves a comfortable 3-0 win against the Rangers at Parkhead last weekend. Philippe Clement's side were coming into the game on the back of a 6-0 victory and the Ibrox fans had been hoping for at least a close contest but that was not to be. The result means that they have won just one of the previous twelve Glasgow Derbies.
Quite the run from Celtic, to say the least. And let's not forget that even that win for the Rangers came in a match with no real consequences after the Hoops had secured the league title already.
It is hard to see how the Rangers close down the gap with Celtic. It must be starting to feel like a never-ending cycle at Ibrox. Is Clement's story with the Rangers set up for a similar ending to that of Mick Beale and Giovanni van Bronckhorst?
We are just four games into the league season and it looks like many have already given up on the Rangers. Kris Boyd, who has been vocal in his support of the club over the years in the media, seems to be one of them.
Kris Boyd slams Rangers again and makes blunt Celtic admission
Boyd had criticised the Rangers at the weekend. And has done so once again, while praising Celtic at the same time. He said on Sky Sports Scotland:
"I think that on current form you've got to say that the Celtic starting XI from the weekend, there is not one Rangers player who would get in that."
In fact, he appears to believe that some from the Celtic bench would walk into the Rangers team. Boyd added:
"I think that you look at Celtic right now and they look far superior all over the pitch.
"And if you want to rub salt in the wounds as well you could easily look and say that there are probably four or five of the Celtic bench that would walk straight into the Rangers starting team."
Rarely do Celtic fans agree with Boyd, but it is safe to say that they would have no issues agreeing with his comments there. The Hoops certainly appear to be far ahead of the Rangers at this point in time and one can only see the gap widening over the coming months and years.
