Is it really a rivalry if your side loses every time? That is a question some Rangers fans might be starting to ask themselves after seeing Philippe Clement's team lose against Celtic in convincing fashion once again. The Hoops got themselves a 3-0 win at Parkhead with Daizen Maeda, Kyogo and Callum McGregor getting on the scoresheet. On another day, the result would have been even more one-sided.

It is easy to forget that the Rangers were the ones who made the better start on the day. But once Celtic found their rhythm, Clement's team seemed to go into a shell and never came back out of it.

Boyd is someone who often bats for the Rangers in the media. Yet, even he did not make an attempt to defend the Ibrox club after the result.

On the contrary, he decided to paint a pretty accurate picture of the current situation. As reported by the Daily Record, Boyd told Sky Sports:

"How many of that Rangers team would get in the Celtic team? None. And that is where you are trying to get to. None of them would get anywhere near it.

"You've got a captain – I know James Tavernier has had his critics over the years – go and show a two minute clip of why Celtic totally dominated that game. It was summed up within two minutes. James Tavernier labouring back when he lost the ball in the middle of the pitch, to Kyogo running the full length to tackling Tom Lawrence. That is the difference.

"Celtic make things happen, Rangers hope things happen. All this 'we are improving, we are improving' it is about time people wise up and realise this isn't going anywhere fast. That was embarrassing today."

In the past, we have seen Boyd criticise the Rangers from time to time but never to this extent. It is not every day that Celtic fans agree with him, but on this occasion, most would.

Celtic looked on a different level on the day. They are already comfortably ahead of the Rangers in the title race, at the start of September.

Of course, they cannot get comfortable. As we saw last season, it only takes a few games for a significant points lead to evaporate.

That being said, it would be a major surprise if Celtic do not go on and win their fourth straight league title this season. They look miles ahead of this Rangers team right now and it is hard to see where Clement's side go from here.
