With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, the news just does not seem to stop about Celtic. Of course, Matt O'Riley leaving for Brighton & Hove Albion will get all the headlines. Now, it remains to be seen how the club go about trying to replace him. At the same time, they cannot overlook the need for reinforcements in several other positions as well.

Celtic are believed to have made offers to sign both Mateusz Bogusz of LAFC and Arne Engels of FC Augsburg in recent days. Rumours suggest that they have also made a transfer bid for Sheffield United centre-back, Auston Trusty.

One of the positions that Celtic seem to be close to strengthening is Alex Valle. While no official announcement has been made yet, it looks like everything is pretty much done when it comes to the deal and it should be announced soon.

Also, it looks like Valle turned down the chance to join several other clubs in order to make the switch to Europe. That is always a positive. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Fabrizio Romano said about the matter:

"Then there is Alex Valle, who completed his move from Barcelona.

"I think this is a really interesting signing. He had several possibilities also from other clubs in Europe and in Spain, but he decided to join Celtic, and so that's also a really important one."

Valle has not made a senior appearance for Barcelona so far. That might worry some Celtic fans, as the Spanish club are always quick to hand debuts to their youngsters.

In the case of Valle, that did not happen for one reason or another. He was part of Hansi Flick's plans this pre-season though and actually looked like a decent talent up against some tough opposition. He also has a fair amount of experience under his belt, having spent time away from Barcelona on loan already.

It remains to be seen when the move is announced officially. Valle is expected to compete with Greg Taylor for the starting spot at left-back. He is capable of playing on the opposite flank as well though.
