Celtic are expected to strengthen their squad this summer as they look to continue their success domestically while also showing improvement in Europe. But there are quite a few players who could head for the exit door as well. We have already seen Sead Haksabanovic join Malmo while Marco Tilio has returned to Melbourne City FC on loan.

One Celtic player whose future seems to be constantly clouded in uncertainty is Matt O'Riley. The Danish international was a standout performer for the Hoops last season.

Of course, it is not rare for Celtic players to leave the club after having great seasons. And it looks like a return to England is the most likely route for O'Riley although it might take a Scottish-record offer.

As reported by HITC, Celtic are now holding out for a £30 million transfer fee for O’Riley. West Ham United, Everton and Brentford have all held talks. So too have Fulham. Southampton are also in the race.

O'Riley came up through the youth ranks at Fulham. He would then make the bold decision of leaving to join MK Dons, who were playing in League One back then.

It is a risk that paid off for O'Riley. He ended up joining Celtic soon afterwards and the rest is history. Now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

Of course, Celtic fans will be hoping that O'Riley stays at the club. But considering the amount of interest in his signature, an exit seems a lot more likely. It is not just English clubs who are interested in him. Atletico Madrid tried to sign him in the winter as well but failed to do so. It remains to be seen if the Spanish giants coming calling once again.
