Celtic are expected to make additions to their squad over the course of the summer transfer window. But there have only been exits so far. Sead Haksabanovic was the first to leave, as he joined Malmo on a permanent basis. Then Marco Tilio returned to Melbourne City FC on another loan spell. And now, another player has joined them out the exit door.

That player is none other than Rocco Vata. The long-running saga around his future is finally over and he has decided to leave Celtic to make a move down south.

Vata came through the youth ranks at Celtic and his father, Rudi, also played for the club. But chances were hard to come by at the senior level and it is not hard to understand why he decided it was the right time to part ways. It would have been a different story if he had been getting opportunities at Parkhead.

Watford confirmed the signing of Vata on their official website. He joins on a four-year contract, with the option of an additional year.

Considering the success that Vata enjoyed in youth football, both for Celtic and the Republic of Ireland, it is hard to understand why he was not given more chances in the senior game. Of course, there is always the pressure to win games for the Hoops but even then, it feels like he could have been played a bit more.

Perhaps if he was given more opportunities, he would have chosen to remain at Celtic. Let's see how things turn out for him at Watford.

It does feel like Vata has all the tools to succeed in the senior game. Even at Celtic, he did well with the limited chances he was given and even scored a goal.
