Celtic transfer bids rejected for 21-year-old striker
Celtic will need to sign a striker or two this summer. Adam Idah, who was a key part of the team in the second half of last season, has since returned to Norwich City following the end of his loan spell. On the other hand, Oh Hyeon-gyu has joined Genk. Rocco Vata has also departed the club in order to join Watford. That means that Kyogo is the only recognised centre-forward available to Brendan Rodgers right now.
Don't get us wrong, Kyogo has been world-class in pre-season and looks back to his best. Hopefully, he will carry this form into the 24/25 campaign.
But simply having Kyogo is not enough. Everyone knows that. Any injury to the Japanese forward will leave Celtic in a world of trouble.
We are not far away from the start of the season. Signing Idah on a permanent basis would be the best-case scenario in the eyes of many. But even if such a move was possible, it would take time, with the new Norwich City manager making his assessment of the Irish striker in pre-season. On the other hand, it looks like Celtic are not sitting still and have made attempts to sign other strikers.
Celtic transfer bids rejected for 21-year-old striker
As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic have had multiple offers rejected by Columbus Crew for Jacen Russell-Rowe. The Hoops are believed to be in discussions with the MLS side over a deal to bring the emerging star to Glasgow.
Russell-Rowe is 21 years of age and his record in the senior game is not phenomenal. It must be pointed out that he has represented the Canadian national team on several occasions as well.
Perhaps it is Russell-Rowe's numbers at the youth level which point to his true potential, which has not been unlocked yet in the senior game. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he scored 26 goals and provided 7 assists in 23 appearances for Columbus Crew 2. He also scored 4 times in 7 games for Canada U17.
