Celtic target Gustav Isaksen explains why he didn't leave Lazio
Celtic were linked with a number of players late in the summer transfer window, with the club in need of reinforcements. Ultimately, they did a decent job. Arne Engels was signed from FC Augsburg for a club-record fee. Auston Trusty and Luke McCowan were also brought in on deadline day. Alex Valle arrived on loan from FC Barcelona.
One of the most exciting players Celtic were linked with this summer was Gustav Isaksen. The winger ended up staying on at Lazio though.
Isaksen has endured a tough time since joining Lazio last summer. But it looks like he was not keen on leaving the Italian club after just a year.
In fact, judging from Isaksen's comments, it looks like a move to Celtic this summer was never going to be on the cards. As reported by TV Midtvest, he said:
"It would be boring to have spent a whole year getting to know everything in Lazio to go somewhere new and then have to learn it all again.
"So I told my agent that even if something exciting comes along, I would like to stay with 99 percent certainty. I feel that I have the potential to become an important man down there."

Let's see how things play out for Isaksen at Lazio this season. He has already scored a goal in the Italian Serie A in this campaign but has yet to establish himself in the starting line up.
The Danish international's talent is not in question. And if things do not end up working out at Lazio, perhaps Celtic could try to sign him in the future.
For the time being, Celtic do seem to have some solid options on the right flank. That has been helped by the form of Nicolas Kuhn.
Signed last winter, Kuhn had made a slow start to life at Celtic. But he looks like a player reborn this season and has been putting in some great performances and numbers lately.
Other than that, Celtic also have Yang Hyun-jun, who is also a highly-rated talent. And of course, James Forrest is an option as well. All in all, another signing is not urgently needed.
