Celtic submit deadline day bid for 26-year-old player
Celtic have allowed things to go down to the wire once again this summer. The Hoops seem to be looking to make last-minute additions to Brendan Rodgers' squad. Not that it cannot work out. Cameron Carter-Vickers was a pretty late signing in 2021 and it would be safe to say that he has had a solid career at Parkhead since then, establishing himself as an undroppable and the club's leader at the back.
Celtic fans will be hoping for similar additions this deadline day. And attempts to sign Mateusz Bogusz and Alvyn Sanches led nowhere, it appears that the Hoops have set their eyes much closer to home, with the clock ticking down.
As reported by BBC, Celtic have made a bid for Dundee FC midfielder Luke McCowan. No deal has yet been agreed but the Hoops are hopeful of securing the 26-year-old's signing before the deadline.
McCowan is in the final year of his contract with Dundee FC. That could make a deal easier for Celtic to pull off. Earlier in the summer, he was linked with Hibernian.

Of course, McCowan would not be a headline signing for Celtic by any means. But one cannot deny the impact that he has made in games lately.
McCowan's numbers in this campaign have been eye-catching, to say the very least. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 3 goals and provided 6 assists in 8 appearances in the 24/25 season so far.
One has to point out that the majority of those goal contributions have come against lower-tier opposition in the League Cup. But McCowan was solid last season as well, scoring 10 Premiership goals.
At 26 years of age, he is entering his prime years on the pitch. It would not be a bad idea to sign someone like him for a bargain transfer fee.
