Celtic ready to sign €5 million Manchester United player
Celtic finished the 2023/24 campaign strong by securing a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. Things never stay still at clubs like this though and the focus is already on how to get better next season. One of the major tasks that the Hoops have this summer is replacing Joe Hart, with the Englishman retiring following a three-year run at Parkhead which produced seven trophies.
Hart was not only an important contributor between the posts but also a leader for Celtic. So, it will not be an easy task to replace him.
Celtic have been linked with goalkeepers like Ugurcan Cakir, Caoimhin Kelleher, Koen Casteels and many others in recent times. Back in March, we had suggested that Altay Bayindir was an option worth considering as well. And it looks like the Hoops are preparing to sign the Manchester United player.
As reported by Aksam, Celtic is preparing to add Bayindir to its squad to replace Hart. The Scottish club plans to sign a 4-year contract with the 26-year-old goalkeeper.
Celtic ready to sign €5 million Manchester United player
It was just last summer that Bayindir had signed for Manchester United from Fenerbahce for a transfer fee believed to be around €5 million. But the Turkish international made just one appearance for Erik ten Hag's side over the course of the 2023/24 season.
Thus, it is not hard to see why the 26-year-old might be considering an Old Trafford exit already. Someone like him could be a solid option for Celtic as well.
Bayindir is certainly a decent goalkeeper despite his lack of chances at Manchester United. He competed for trophies while at Fenerbahce and has represented the Turkish national team on several occasions as well. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic are successful in signing him this summer or not.
