Celtic ready to offer new deal to Ange Postecoglou signing
It has been more than a year since Ange Postecoglou left Celtic to take up the Tottenham Hotspur job. The impact of the work that he did during his time in Glasgow is still felt at the club though. A number of players, who were brought in while he was the Hoops' manager, remain regular starters even under the management of Brendan Rodgers.
On the other hand, we have seen Postecoglou's signings bring in Scottish-record transfer fees in back-to-back summer windows. Jota departed the club for Al-Ittihad in a £25 million deal in 2023. And Brighton & Hove Albion are believed to have signed Matt O'Riley for a £30 million package.
One of the last signings made during the Postecoglou era at Celtic was Alistair Johnston. And the Canadian has been the regular starter at right-back since then.
He looks set to be rewarded for his performances as well. As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are set to open talks with Johnston over a new deal that would bring him in line with the Hoops top earners.

Johnston is a regular starter for Celtic right now. So, it would make sense for him to be handed an extension for sure.
To be honest, Johnston had not looked particularly impressive last season, as it looked like he was taking some time to adjust to the change in system brought about by the arrival of Rodgers in place of Postecoglou. But the Canadian international has made a phenomenal start to this campaign and looks like a player revitalised.
Hopefully, Johnston will remain at Celtic for years to come. Of course, the club have some decent cover in that position as well in the form of Anthony Ralston, who has done well too.
