Celtic have already announced the arrival of two new goalkeepers this summer. Kasper Schmeichel has been signed as a free agent following a spell at Anderlecht last season and he is expected to be the Hoops' new number one. On the other hand, Viljami Sinisalo has been brought in from Aston Villa for a transfer fee believed to be around £1 million.

On the other hand, goalkeepers have departed Parkhead as well. Of course, Hart retired at the end of last season, finishing his Celtic career with seven trophies in just three years. And now, it looks like Benjamin Siegrist is closing in on an exit as well.

Siegrist was signed in the summer of 2022 as a free agent. But he has barely featured since then. In fact, he did not make a single appearance last season. So, it is understanable why the Swiss goalkeeper could be on his way out.

As reported by the Daily Record, Siegrist has opened talks over a move to Rapid Bucharest. He has been given permission by Celtic to travel to Romania to see if a permanent deal can be finalised.

Rapid Bucharest are currently managed by Celtic legend, Neil Lennon. And it looks like he is looking to make the most of his Parkhead connections.

Siegrist was a pretty good goalkeeper during his time at Dundee United. It is actually confusing why things went south for him at Celtic. When he had arrived, many had expected him to eventually become the number one.

Of course, Celtic are ready for Siegrist's departure, having already signed a couple of goalkeepers this summer in Schmeichel and Sinisalo. Now, they need to strengthen in other areas of the pitch. A new striker has to be atop the wish list.
