Celtic player's permanent exit announced on deadline day
Most of the Celtic headlines on deadline day have been about new arrivals and potential signings. The signing of Auston Trusty from Sheffield United has been made official already. It is also believed to be only a matter of time before Arne Engels joins from FC Augsburg in a club-record deal. And another midfielder could potentially be brought in, although time is quickly running out.
On the other hand, there have been some who have departed Celtic on deadline day as well. One of them is Mikey Johnston.
On their official website, West Bromwich Albion announced the permanent signing of Johnston from Celtic for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a four-year contract at The Hawthorns.
Johnston spent the second half of last season out on loan at West Bromwich Albion and was fantastic for the Championship club. That spell has been rewarded with a permanent move this summer.

Johnston came through the Celtic academy and early on in his career, it looked like he was almost certain to develop into a starter. He was starting to get regular game time and impressed with his performances as well.
But then, injury problems ended up derailing his career at Celtic. He slipped down the pecking order and by the time he was back to full fitness, it was difficult for him to get back into the starting XI. Johnstone would show flashes of brilliance here and there, but they were few and far between.
Ultimately, it was the right step for Johnston to leave Celtic this summer. At best, he would have had a squad role like Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh. We can only wish him the best of luck and hope to see him have a great time at West Bromwich Albion. Thank you for everything, Mikey.
