Celtic already had a lot on their plate with the future of Matt O'Riley in constant doubt and the midfielder being linked with a new club or two on a daily basis. Amid all this, it looks like another one of Brendan Rodges' regular starters might have an eye on the Premier League, with their rumoured to be interest from Leicester City.
Let's turn the clock back to last summer for a bit. A Celtic midfielder was in heavy demand back then as well. It was not O'Riley though.
It was Reo Hatate instead. He had been brilliant in a season-and-a-half under the management of Ange Postecoglou and with the Australian manager leaving, there question marks around the future of the midfielder as well.
Ultimately, Hatate remained at Celtic. He also went through a difficult season at an individual level, having had to deal with multiple injury problems. And the hype surrounding the midfielder has decreased to a certain extent, with O'Riley now widely considered the club's best player. That does not mean that there is no interest in the Japanese international.
Celtic player keen to leave for Premier League amid Leicester City links
As tweeted by Chris Wheatley, Leicester City are among the teams monitoring Hatate. The 26-year-old is keen on moving to the Premier League this summer, with interest from Spain and Italy too.
To be honest, there had not been much speculation around Hatate this summer. But now, it looks like his continuity at Parkhead is not set in stone.
Celtic cannot afford to see both O'Riley and Hatate leave in the same window. They are both starting midfielders. The ideal scenario would be both remaining at Parkhead. But if an exit became inevitable, hopefully one of them would stay on in Glasgow for at least another season.
