The Glasgow Derby is in the rearview mirror and we are now looking forward to a gap in club football, as national teams take to the pitch. Celtic's deadline day signing, Auston Trusty, has made the USA squad for the September international break. On the other hand, defensive mainstay Cameron Carter-Vickers has been left out of the 24-man list.

International breaks will never lose their dullness. However, for Celtic fans, the September one couldn't have come at a better time.

The Hoops have made a perfect start to the 2024/25 campaign, winning every game in sight so far. Needless to say, the Glasgow Derby win will be celebrated by Celtic fans throughout the break.

After the international break, Celtic will face Hearts in the Premiership before returning to Champions League action, with a home tie against SK Slovan Bratislava. The club's fans may be keeping an eye on Trusty but why was Carter-Vickers omitted from the same USMNT squad?

Celtic player dropped from international squad amid injury fears

The United States recently released their 24-player squad for the USMNT's September international break. As we have already mentioned, Carter-Vickers didn't make it.

Reading between the lines, it seems to be a result of the injury scare Carter-Vickers sustained recently. After the recent derby against Rangers, the defender was seen leaving Parkhead wearing a moon boot.

Carter-Vickers has made 18 international appearances for the USMNT. So, it is unlikely he would miss out for any reason other than injury. After all, he is in great form.

The England-born defender made a wise decision to play for USA as a youngster, due to them promising him a fast-track into the senior squad. So, the United States certainly saw something in him and he is certainly fulfilling that potential at Celtic.

Celtic return to action to face Hearts in a couple of weeks. Whether or not Carter-Vickers recovers from his knock by then remains to be seen but having Trusty in the ranks is a nice safety blanket for Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic fans are able to watch Trusty in action as the USA face Alistair Johnston's Canada for a fan appreciation match on September 7th, then New Zealand on September 10th.
