Celtic open talks to sign €10 million-rated MLS player
With speculation about Matt O'Riley potentially leaving Celtic starting to pick up pace and an exit feeling inevitable, the Hoops must keep an eye out for potential replacements for the Danish international. It looks like a Polish player, currently thriving in the MLS, is in their sights and talks are already underway.
Celtic have not often signed players from the MLS. They have rarely signed €10 million-rated players anyway. But it looks like the situation of Mateusz Bogusz is one to keep an eye on.
Bogusz currently plays for Los Angeles FC. There, the 22-year-old is enjoying the best season of his career so far, and that seems to have caught the eye of Celtic.
As reported by Meczyki, Celtic are seriously interested in Bogusz. Talks are already underway to complete this move before the summer window closes. The Hoops are in discussions with LAFC about the transfer fee, which should be around €8-10 million.

Bogusz is very versatile. He can play up top, on the wing or in midfield. He has played all of those roles for LAFC this season and thrived in each one. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 16 goals and provided 6 assists in 32 appearances in this campaign so far.
If Celtic needed to replace O'Riley, they would have to find someone capable of contributing both in terms of goals and assists. Bogusz is doing that for LAFC right now.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first time in his senior career that Bogusz has shown this level of output. So, it is unclear whether this kind of form will be sustainable or translate to the European game. But then again, he is 22 years of age and this could be him finally finding his feet.
