Celtic have mostly signed youngsters in recent years. The term 'project signing' is one that the club's supporters have become very familiar with. But if you take out the 21/22 season, when their recruitment was exceptional, then the Hoops' record of identifying talent has not been convincing by any stretch of the imagination.

One would that they do better this season. There are positive signs in that regard. Kasper Schmeichel is looking like a stellar, albeit short-term, addition to Brendan Rodgers' squad. We also know what to expect from Paulo Bernardo and hopefully he will show further improvements moving forward.

It remains to be seen where Celtic go from here. Signing Adam Idah on a permanent basis seems to be near the top of the club's, and the fans', wish list.

Amid all this, there appears to be interest in a Premier League player as well. As tweeted by Sami Mokbel, Celtic have enquired about Crystal Palace's versatile midfielder Jeff Schlupp.

Schlupp is 31 years of age and a Premier League veteran. He is not a regular starter for Crystal Palace but definitely involved in their first-team plans and a contributor for the Eagles, who have established themselves in the English top flight since going up.

Schlupp was part of the Leicester City team that memorably won the Premier League. He has been at Crystal Palace for a long time now but his current deal with the club is believed to run out next summer.

So, it is hard to understand why the Eagles might be open to the idea of parting ways with the veteran. That being said, it would be interesting to see what kind of a transfer fee they want and what kind of wages it takes to sign Schlupp.
