Celtic make badly-timed morning announcement
It has been a few days since Celtic suffered a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately, the mood around the club has yet to recover, and understandably so. Conceding seven goals, even at the Champions League, is unacceptable for a club of this size and stature. Brendan Rodgers' side need to bounce back from this result and as swiftly as possible.
It looks like it is time to move on though. Football does not stay still. And neither does the release of new merchandise.
That has turned out to be the case for the Hoops. On their official website, they announced the release of a new Adidas Originals X Celtic FC collection. It has been modelled by club icon, Mikael Lustig.
On one hand, the collection looks absolutely splendid. The partnership was Adidas has resulted in a lot of great merchandise and this certainly falls into that category. But on the other hand, one cannot help but question the timing of the announcement, just a couple of days after the 7-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.
Celtic make badly-timed morning announcement
In fact, it was the first post the club had made since the night of the Borussia Dortmund game. So, it should come as no surprise that the comments were filled with fans questioning the timing of the announcement although many acknowledged the absolutely brilliant collection as well.
Now, everybody recognises that things will work out fine. Celtic have bounced back from heavy defeats before. 5-1 against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu. 6-0 against Atletico Madrid last season at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The Scottish champions will come out of this fine. But even then, perhaps it would have been best if the club had decided to wait until the weekend, hopefully, picked up a positive result and then made the announcement.
