Celtic's great start to the season was derailed by a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund away at Signal Iduna Park. It was one of the worst European performances in the club's history for sure. But it is important to look at the bigger picture now that a few days have passed. The Hoops are still in a very strong position domestically and qualification to the next phase of the Champions League is still a possibility.

Just for context, they are just three spots below Real Madrid, four behind Barcelona and five below Bayern Munich. There is still all to play for and Celtic have some winnable games in hand.

The Hoops have been handed some worrying news coming out of the game against Borussia Dortmund though. Alistair Johnston, the regular starter at right-back, has been left out of the Canadian national team squad for the upcoming international break.

It looks like he is nursing a back injury. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Jesse Marsch said about the situation:

"Alistair Johnston and midfielder Ismael Kone are both rehabbing injuries.

"It's back and ankle injuries for them."

Johnston was subbed off late in the game against Borussia Dortmund with Anthony Ralston replacing him. The Canadian had looked in some discomfort.

It is unclear whether Johnston was playing through an injury or picked it up against Borussia Dortmund. Perhaps we will find out more about it over the course of the week.

Celtic need players like Johnston around as they look to bounce back from what was a terrible result in midweek. But if he needs some rest then one would expect Ralston to take his place.

Also, it will be interesting to see if Brendan Rodgers decides to change things up on the opposition full-back position. Alex Valle was one of the rare bright spots on the night away in Germany for the club while Greg Taylor struggled.
