Celtic interested in signing Liverpool midfielder
Celtic do appear to be interested in signing another midfielder this summer. Whether that has to do with the uncertain future of Matt O'Riley is unclear at the moment. But the club have been linked with a few midfielders recently. One of them is Hannibal Mejbri of Manchester United. The youngster has failed to meet the lofty expectations set for him at Old Trafford and a move away could serve him well.
Mejbri does not seem to be the only Premier League youngster on Celtic's radar though. It looks like they have an eye on a Liverpool midfielder as well.
That player is Bobby Clark. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he made 12 appearances for Liverpool last season, scoring 1 goal and providing 2 assists in 351 minutes of football.
Clark is clearly very talented but he is not going to get regular playing time at Liverpool at this point. So, a loan spell away could serve him well and it looks like Celtic are one of the clubs in the mix to sign him, as are the Rangers. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, journalist Paul Gorst said on The Redmen TV podcast:
"Celtic and Rangers are in the mix, RB Salzburg have had a bid rejected and pretty much half the Championship are interested, including Norwich City and Leeds United."

One thing is clear, there is no chance that Celtic would be able to sign Clark on a permanent basis, even if he were to arrive on a loan. Any move would be a short-term solution.
Then one has to question whether the 19-year-old midfielder would be able to make a significant impact on the team next season. Clark might be a magnificent talent but there are more first-team-ready players out there and understandably so.
It remains to be seen whether Celtic end up making a move for Clark or not. Of course, competition for his signature is heavy and it will not be an easy task getting a deal done.
