The England national team made it to the final of the EUROs the last two times, but fell short at the final hurdle on both occasions. Gareth Southgate faced a lot of criticism during his time as the manager of the Three Lions but nobody can question the results, no matter the manner they came in. He is set to vacate the role though and it looks like a Celtic hero is in the mix for the job.

Just a few years ago, not many fans in Europe were aware of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the game since his move to Celtic in the summer of 2021 though.

After winning five trophies in two years at Celtic, Postecoglou joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he had a promising debut campaign. And now, it looks like he is in the mix for the England job.

As reported by The Telegraph, Postecoglou is expected to be on the list of candidates being considered to become the next England national team manager. He is highly rated by John McDermott, who is the one in charge of appointing a successor to Southgate.

Of course, Postecoglou already has experience of managing and succeeding at the international level. He was the manager of the Australian national team in the past.

Postecoglou would certainly bring the style of football that England fans want to see their side play. And considering the level of talent they have going forward, it could suit them.

That being said, it is much more likely that the Three Lions will end up appointing someone who is without a coaching job at the moment. They have been linked with names like Graham Potter, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and others.
